Powerscourt’s Financial Services & Real Estate Team has strengthened its media and advisory capabilities with the appointment of Gary O’Shea as a Senior Consultant.
Gary spent two decades as a journalist, including almost 15 years at The Sun, where he covered some of the biggest news stories of recent times. He joins Powerscourt from his previous role as Senior Account Director at a specialist communications consultancy, where he worked across a range of sectors including asset management, fintech, and real estate investment.
Gary O’Shea commented: “Powerscourt is unrivalled in terms of its media capabilities and connectivity. I’m delighted to be joining the firm at a time when the team is rapidly expanding its client offering, as well as innovating to connect with new audiences.
“The media landscape is constantly evolving, and against this backdrop there has never been a more important time to be nimble in the delivery of compelling corporate narratives. I’m looking forward to supporting a diverse range of clients as they look to promote their brands.”
Justin Griffiths, Partner and Head of Financial Services & Real Estate, said: “Having had his finger on the pulse of one of the most-read newspapers in the country for 15 years, Gary brings invaluable experience to the team. His instinctive understanding of the news cycle and media agenda, and how to influence them, will undoubtedly be a major asset for our clients.”
Gary is one of four new hires to the Financial Services & Real Estate team following a period of sustained growth. In the past 12 months, the team has advised on major transactions such as Vistry Group’s £1.1 billion acquisition of Countryside Partnerships as well as winning a number of new client mandates including AIB, Landsec and Royal London.
His appointment also follows other recent significant hires across the firm including Stephen O’Brien, former Political Editor at the Sunday Times in Ireland.
